Membership Information

Eligibility

Membership is open to athletes ages 8 years and older.

Registration Periods

Registration is open in the fall from September 1 - October 31 and in the spring from April 1 - May 31. During this time, we encourage all athletes who are new to the club to register for a free 14-day* trial. A trial allows you to check if our club and the sport are the right fit for you before paying your non-refundable club fees. Trial periods begin on the date of registration and do not impact the cost or length of your club membership. To register for a trial or a membership, please email us. Do not attempt to register or pay for anything until you receive a confirmation email. This is for your own benefit.

*Trial periods may be shorter if you sign up toward the end of the registration window. Club fees must be paid in full by October 31 or May 31.

Fees

Registration fees include coaching, use of equipment, use of indoor and outdoor facilities, and some meet entry fees.

Payments are non-refundable and to be made online in a single transaction. Please note that a service charge may be applied to your registration fee. Payments are the same for all club members, regardless of registration date or commitment level, and help to cover the cost of the season for the club.

Athletics Alberta Membership:

This is a mandatory membership required for club insurance purposes and to compete at meets. Rates depend on the age of each athlete. You must register each calendar year and pay on the Athletics Alberta website at www.athleticsalberta.com. Please note that a trial membership does not fulfill this requirement. Registering between September 1 & December 31 will extend your coverage to the end of the following calendar year.

Uniform:

Harriers singlet is provided by the club and is to be worn in competition. Athletes can have choose the shorts of their preference. Other club apparel is available for online purchase at the family’s discretion at https://edmontonharrierstrackandfieldclub.entripyshops.com/ .

Volunteer Commitments

These are critically important for us to fund the program and keep our fees low. Plus it ends up being a fun way to engage with and learn about the sport.

Track or Cross-Country Meets

Club families are required to fill the volunteer positions for the fall Elementary series cross-country events (late September/early October) and winter Elementary relays event (January).

Club families are further required to meet Athletics Alberta volunteer requirements (typically positions during track meets in the winter).

No previous experience is required to volunteer. These tasks may include sitting at a table to collect information, raking long jump pits, helping to distribute awards, or others. Volunteer shifts are typically just a few hours up to a half day.

Casino

Approximately every 18 to 24 months, the Club are awarded a casino. This is a critical fundraiser that requires all families to provide one volunteer for each athlete registered with the club.
